CG NSCDC TASKS CHAPLAINCY TO INTENSIFY PRAYERS FOR WEST AFRICA
Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, OFR, has tasked the Chaplains across West African countries to remain focused and pray more for their respective nations, while assuring of his readiness to continue to support the Chaplaincy Unit across all formations of the Corps.
The Commandant General stated this at a 5-day West African Chaplaincy Training holding at the Corps’ National Headquarters Abuja, organized by the International Association of Evangelical Chaplains of the United States of America.
Represented by the Assistant Commandant General in charge to training and manpower development, David Abi fsi, the CG said that the training is crucial at this point as the place of God, prayer and synergy can not be overemphasised for smooth operational duties.
"I believe this training is germane, for just as the soul yearns for God, so does the country and the people yearn for peace and progress. Therefore there's need for synergy spiritually and operationally to bring about effective service delivery".
He also added that with the contributions from foreign partners and other sister agencies, the Corps' Chaplaincy will operate optimally and further explore areas in which the Gospel can be expanded.
He charged the participants to make judicious use of the training so as to enhance their performance as Chaplains at their various commands, formations, agencies and countries.
Speaking earlier in an address of welcome, the National Chaplain of the NSCDC, ACC John Paul JP, extolled the CG and his revamping agenda, stating that the appointment of Dr Audi as CG has brought a lot of transformation to the Corps especially the Chaplaincy Unit.
"The Chaplaincy unit has been revamped as the Corps has established chaplaincies in all the 36 states Commands and the FCT and has trained over 40 chaplains and commissioned them to take the spiritual welfare of staff seriously not forgetting the place of intercession for the leadership of the Corps and the Country" .
The Director, International Association of Evangelical Chaplain, Colonel Ron Huggler (Rtd) in goodwill message said, he was delighted to be in Nigeria and to be used by God to impart knowledge.
He expressed optimism that after the training the officers will be better equipped to serve the people.
Others who were present and gave goodwill messages included Director Chaplaincy, Protestant, Nigerian Airforce Air Commondore DB Gani and the National President Paramilitary Chaplaincy CRS Apata
Participants for the training were drawn from Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
