A Non-Governmental Organisation, Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC), is undertaking a project that will promote access to justice through enhanced case management as well as exploring the non-custodial option in reducing overcrowding in Custodial Centres.

The CEO stated that the project which is in the second phase will be extended to six (6) State Commands of Nasarawa, FCT, Plateau, Kaduna, Adamawa and Lagos. He further stated that the project will include providing legal services to pre-trial inmates, supporting the ICT unit of the Service to improve on the present model of the Correctional Information Management System (CIMS), as well as supporting the implementation of non-custodial alternatives.
Mr. Shittu informed the CGC that the project will be commissioned in November 2023, and used the medium to humbly invite the CGC to the flag-off.
While welcoming them to his office, the CGC who was represented by the Assistant Controller General of Corrections in-charge of Custody, Manu Gimba Dambuluwa, welcomed and appreciated them for conceiving the lofty project which in his words, ‘are aimed at improving the welfare of inmates.’ He promised to give maximum support to the project, and assured that the Service is ready to partner any well-meaning individual, groups and organisation in ensuring proper treatment of the inmates.
