Topic: The 2023 General Election: Lessons Learnt in preparation for Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States off Cycle Governorship Elections

Let me also, on behalf of the Commission, assure you all that INEC will leverage on the lessons learnt in the 2023 General Election to ensure that the Governorship Elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi are conducted in full compliance with the Electoral Legal Framework and in a free, fair, credible, inclusive and verifiable manner.

Although, Professor Abubakar Momoh is no longer with us, his ideas, philosophy and values are what we are remembering him for today. Certainly, what INEC cherishes most, is to hold in high esteem individuals, organizations and institutions that promote and sustain democratic values that inspire collective development through good governance. Accordingly, through the Electoral Institute (TEI), the Commission will continually organise Policy dialogues, Round-table Series, Focus Group Discussions and the Late Professor Abubakar Momoh Memorial Lecture to interact nationally and internationally with relevant stakeholders that add value to governance.
